Downtown Roseville's first affordable housing project opens

Lohse Apartments celebrated its grand opening last week as the first affordable housing development in Downtown Roseville. Take a look inside with this video.

The Lohse Apartments is a 58-unit affordable housing development with mixed-use, four-story apartments.  The complex includes 12 one bedroom, 26 two bedroom, and 19 three bedroom with common areas that include community room, computer area, lounge area, and laundry room. The property also has commercial space on the ground floor, and 60 underground and four surface parking spaces.

There are 19 affordable rental housing developments in addition to the Lohse Apartments. The Lohse Apartments is the 20th affordable rental development in Roseville. Since 1989, the City's affordable housing policies have produced 2,679 affordable housing units.

Affordable housing is housing built with federal, state and local subsidies to make housing accessible to the local workforce, like those in an entry level position, service sector and manufacturing jobs as examples.

Projects like this also provides housing for the disabled in the community and those on fixed incomes like senior citizens.
