Resolve to use water wisely in 2018

Why not start off the New Year with a resolution to use water wisely? WaterSense-labeled fixtures can make it an easy resolution to keep.

And, the good news is: We have rebates and free services to keep your resolution going all year long.

The WaterSense label is given to products that have been independently certified to be 20 percent more water efficient than average products in that category and to perform just as well or better. Look for the WaterSense-label when shopping for:

  • Bathroom sink faucets and accessories: You can conserve water every time you turn on the tap by installing WaterSense labeled faucets and aerators. Faucets and aerators that feature the label use a maximum of 1.5 gallons per minute and can save the average household 700 gallons of water per year. They’ll also lower your energy bill by reducing the demand on your water heater.

  • Toilets: Toilets use the most water of any fixture in a home and account for nearly 30 percent of an average home’s water use. Older toilets can use as much as 6 gallons of water per flush. New WaterSense-labeled high-efficiency toilets use as little as 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF) or less and still provide equal or superior performance to older models. If you are in the market for a new toilet, we have a rebate good for 1.1 GPF.

  • Weather-Based Irrigation Timers: Replacing a standard clock-based irrigation timer with a WaterSense-labeled weather-based version takes the guesswork out of running sprinklers and can save the average home nearly 9,000 gallons of water each year. These timers act like a thermostat for your sprinkler system, telling it when to turn on and off, and use local weather and landscape conditions to deliver just the right amount of water. Yep, we have a rebate for these, too. Up to $150!
