City of Roseville False Alarm Reduction Program

The City of Roseville's burglary and robbery alarm program is managed by PM AM Corporation, a third-party alarm administrator. PM AM issues the City's burglary and robbery alarm permits and biennial renewals, and manages our False Alarm Reduction Program. Alarm System Ordinance (10.64) requires any alarm user to obtain a valid alarm permit. 

The goal of the ordinance and the City’s partnership with PM AM Corporation is to reduce the number of false alarm activation's requiring a response by the Roseville Police Department, thereby redirecting public safety resources to respond to more urgent calls for service.

Failure to pay false alarm fees is a violation of the City's Alarm Ordinance and may result in suspension of police response. Unpaid invoices may be sent to a collection agency.

How can I prevent False Alarms?

  • Make sure that you immediately report your false alarm to your alarm company, so they can cancel police response before arrival at your home or business.
  • Ensure that everyone in your household or business has been properly trained on how to use the alarm system.
  • Work with your alarm company to keep emergency contact lists updated and make sure the system is inspected at least once a year.
  • Avoid decorations or helium balloons that might cause the alarm system to be activated.
  • Heavy winds might cause doors to open and alarm systems to be activated. You can prevent this by making sure all doors and windows are properly closed and/or locked and that all latches and locks are in working order.

Can I appeal a False Alarm Activation Fee?

Yes. If your false alarm activations were caused by unusual circumstances, and you have taken steps to correct the problem, you can request a waiver.

Within 15 days of receiving the notice, please write or e-mail the Alarm Administrator at: 1051 Junction Boulevard, Roseville, CA 95678 or at [email protected]. The Chief of Police or his designee will render a decision in writing. Waivers are not granted often, and are reserved for unusual circumstances.

Can I appeal an Administrative Citation?

If you wish to appeal an Administrative Citation issued for failing to have an alarm permit, you may request a hearing with the City of Roseville's Hearing Board. Fill out a request for hearing and return it to the Roseville City Attorney's Office within 30 days of the date of your citation.
