Applications are accepted and screened for minimum qualifications. Applicants who pass this stage will be invited to advance to the next step in the process.

Applicants will be invited to participate in a full day of testing. The day will consist of the following:
Physical Agility Test (PAT)
Oral Interview
- Applicants will meet with an interview panel to determine suitability for the position.
- Successful applicants will be invited to attend the written exercise
Written Exercise
- Applicants will answer two questions in an essay format.
Pre-Employment Questionnaire (PEQ)
- Applicants will complete a questionnaire about their background.
Personal History Statement
- Applicants will submit their Personal History Statement and waiver
All prospective applicants for positions with the Roseville Police Department must undergo a comprehensive pre-employment background process. This investigation ensures the following:
- It assures compliance with all applicable minimum standards for appointment.
- It screens out candidates who, based on their history or other relevant information, are found to unsuitable for their desired position with the Roseville Police Department.
- The applicant’s dependability, honesty, responsibility, and integrity are evaluated.
A CVSA examination is used to confirm the entirety of the information that the applicant provided to the Roseville Police Department.
At this stage, the Professional Standards Unit Sergeant and Lieutenant review the applicant’s background file before forwarding it to the Division Captain and the Chief of Police for review.
Applicants will be invited to interview with the Chief of Police, or the chief's designee.
Successful applicants will be given a conditional job offer. This offer becomes an offer of employment only if the applicant successfully completes the final examination(s), as required by their position.
Applicants must successfully complete a medical examination.
Applicants must successfully complete a psychological examination.
Once the City of Roseville’s Human Resources Department is informed that an applicant has successfully completed the final examination(s) as required, the applicant will be notified. Arrangements will be made with the Roseville Police Department personnel to begin employment.
