Meet Curby, the recycling robot. He loves to talk about trash. But don't be surprised if his jokes are garbage!
Curby invites the community to his free family event, Waste-a-Palooza, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center.
Visit Curby's Creation Corner to make and take home recycled crafts. Play games like Three P Flip, Sewer Scramble, and Trashy Challenge. Compete for prizes in an exciting quiz show. Slide into the sewer to discover where backups can occur. Watch out for those sticky wipes and some hidden alligators! Get up close and personal with a couple of garbage trucks outside. The whole family is welcome to enjoy an entertaining day of special activities.
"Not only will visitors have fun with our activities, games, and crafts, but they'll have the chance to get to know some of Roseville's Environmental Utilities staff as well," says Rachel Tooker, of the Roseville Utility Exploration Center. "Our team will be sharing information on what belongs down drains and toilets, ways to reduce waste and reuse items, and what residents can do at home to make an impact. But we'll be doing it in an engaging way for families to enjoy."
The Roseville Utility Exploration Center is located at 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville. Admission is free. Visit roseville.ca.us/explore or call (916) 746-1550 to learn more.
