An improved crossing for bikes and pedestrians at the intersection of Westbrook Boulevard and Payson/Octave Avenue is now complete.
The upgrades provide a more direct connection for trail users traveling across Westbrook Boulevard and better walking and biking access to nearby schools.
Other features include:
- A new traffic signal with accessible pedestrian features and flashing yellow arrows,
- Wide green crosswalk for better visibility and safety,
- Separate signal push buttons allowing more crossing time for pedestrians and less time for bicyclists, and
- A leaning rail so bicyclists waiting to cross the street don't need to dismount.
A similar project was completed in 2019 at the intersection of Junction and Park Regency Drive.
