Federal funding provides Emergency Housing Vouchers

Updated July 13, 2021
Fifty Emergency Housing Vouchers are now available to assist local individuals and families, thanks to federal funding from the American Rescue Plan.

Emergency Housing Vouchers help households that have had difficulty maintaining housing. This includes people currently experiencing homelessness; fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking; or individuals with a high risk of housing instability.

Prospective voucher recipients may inquire by calling 211. Those who qualify will be referred directly to designated agencies through Placer County’s Continuum of Care. This ensures supportive services and renter education for ongoing assistance and housing success. Local nonprofit referral agencies include:

•  Advocates for Mentally Ill Housing,
•  Connecting Point,
•  Placer County Adult System of Care,
•  Salvation Army,
•  Stand Up Placer,
•  The Gathering Inn,
•  Turning Point, and
•  Volunteers of America.

Congress allocated $5 billion through the American Rescue Plan to fund 70,000 new Emergency Housing Vouchers for public housing agencies across the nation, including the Roseville Housing Authority.

About Roseville Housing Authority

Since 1974, the Roseville Housing Authority (RHA) has been responsible for administering the Housing Choice Voucher Program, which provides rental assistance for low-income residents to access quality, affordable, and safe housing.

RHA ensures housing stability and economic self-sufficiency for up to 785 families, seniors, disabled persons, and veterans annually.

Rental assistance for income-qualified participants is paid directly to property owners who participate in the voucher program.

The Housing Authority receives funding from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Roseville’s voucher program infuses over $6.5 million of federal funds into the local economy each year, including administration revenue, which covers most of the staff costs to administer the program.
