Nicole Gee Drive dedication

Updated August 28, 2023
Nicole Gee Drive in west Roseville was dedicated this morning, August 28, in honor of Roseville native and Oakmont High School graduate Sgt. Nicole Gee, USMC, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan, on August 26, 2021.

Vice Mayor Krista Bernasconi, a Navy veteran, hosted the event attended by Nicole’s family. Sgt. Gee’s sister, Misty Fuoco, accepted the ceremonial street sign on behalf of the family, from Vice Mayor Bernasconi. The U.S. Marine Corps Combat Logistics Battalion 23 presented the colors, and West Park High School Senior Eluzai Baissa sang the national anthem, followed by a helicopter flyover from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Several hundred regional residents, including veterans from every branch of the military attended.

Following the remarks, the family took a ceremonial first drive down the newly opened road on a Roseville Fire Department truck, led by the Roseville Police Motor Unit, and followed by a motorcycle contingent of dozens of veterans, while attendees lined the streets waving American flags. The ceremony was broadcast by three area news stations.
