Creating a working family budget is a challenging task for most families. It is even more difficult when you’re near or below the poverty line.
Find out just how difficult at a Poverty Simulator hosted by the Placer Collaborative Network (PCN) and sponsored by the City of Roseville.
Here you’ll take on the role of a person living in a low-income community. You’ll be given a specific family structure and set of circumstances. Using this information, you then must get through four 15-minute “weeks” and do what families everywhere do – go to work if they have a job, get kids to school, feed the family, pay the bills, keep the family safe. Challenges arise in the course of the “month” to which families must also respond.
The Poverty Simulator is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
