At the October 16 City Council meeting, the Roseville City Council approved a $5 million, 12-year naming rights agreement with Placer Valley Tourism, marking a significant milestone in the city's efforts to expand sports tourism. The soccer complex will officially be named the Placer Valley Soccer Complex for the opening scheduled in late 2025.

“We are thrilled to officially introduce the Placer Valley Soccer Complex,” said Jill Geller, Roseville Parks, Recreation & Libraries Director. “Our partnership with Placer Valley Tourism is a natural fit given our shared commitment to advancing sports tourism in Roseville. Their financial support will help with the continued development and maintenance of the complex, ensuring it remains a top-tier facility that provides both recreational and economic benefits to the community for years to come.”

The Placer Valley Soccer Complex, slated to open in late 2025, will feature 10 lighted artificial turf fields, Roseville’s largest universally accessible playground, concessions, a perimeter walking path, and ample parking. The complex is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, further establishing Roseville as a premier sports destination and boosting local tourism.

In addition to this agreement, the Roseville City Council also approved a $120,000, 3-year naming rights agreement with the Roseville Automall for two prominent plazas within the complex. These plazas, to be named the Roseville Automall North Plaza and Roseville Automall South Plaza, will enhance the visitor experience and provide additional visibility for the Roseville Automall.

“The Placer Valley Soccer Complex will be a tremendous asset to our region,” said Dominick Casey, Roseville City Manager. “We’re thankful for the support of the Roseville Automall and Placer Valley Tourism and excited to welcome athletes and families from Northern California and beyond to enjoy this world-class facility in Roseville.”

Additional naming rights opportunities for individual fields and the universally accessible playground are still available. These opportunities provide businesses and organizations with the chance to support the community while gaining visibility in a highly trafficked venue. If you are interested in more information on naming right opportunities, contact Jeff Nereson, Recreation Manager, at 916.774-5974 or [email protected].

This project reflects the City of Roseville’s ongoing commitment to expanding recreational opportunities, promoting healthy lifestyles, and driving economic growth. The complex will serve as a hub for regional sports tourism, benefiting local businesses and providing new opportunities for athletes of all ages.

10/4/24 - Construction on the highly anticipated soccer complex kicked off in June 2023 and expected to be completed in late 2024. The 51-acre facility features more than just fields, boasting a universally accessible playground that will allow children of all abilities to enjoy the space alongside their friends and caregivers.

Each of the 10 lighted synthetic turf fields is carefully leveled and installed, a process that takes about a month per field to ensure the highest standards for play. Additional features include more than 900 parking spaces, a looped walking path for exercise, shaded picnic areas and two plazas equipped with restrooms and concessions.

Parks, Recreation & Libraries Director Jill Geller shared her enthusiasm, "Seeing the progress on this incredible facility is truly exciting. The new Soccer Complex will be a wonderful addition to Roseville, offering state-of-the-art amenities for athletes and families alike. We can’t wait to welcome the community to this fantastic space."

Once finished, the complex will provide fields for soccer, football, lacrosse, quidditch and more, making it a hub for local sports programs and a major draw for regional sports leagues and sports tourism.  It will also be a great place to host social events.

The City Council approved the purchase of up to 20 acres on Phillip Road, Brookstone Drive and Durango Way in west Roseville. The City of Roseville currently owns the adjacent parcel north of the proposed 20-acre property.

The soccer complex will add money to the city’s General Fund through increased sales at our shops and restaurants as well as hotel occupancy tax revenue from out-of-town visitors.

The complex will add to the growing number of parks in Roseville. A workshop to discuss the plans was held on February 1, 2022.
