Scott has been married to his college sweetheart, Karen, for 37 years. They have lived in Roseville most of their lives, raised their family here, and started businesses here.
Scott is the CEO of Advanced Development Concepts, LLC (business consulting, coaching, startups, marketing, etc. since 1986) He is also the president of Advanced Business Roundtable (a weekly business mastermind/roundtable since 2008 helping support local business owners), which organizes the Placer Valley Business Summit. Prior to his council service, he was the 12-year executive owner of A Dash of Panache (a French-deco tea parlor, cafe, and party place in Downtown Roseville) and the CEO of Fellowship Networking, Inc. (a ministry that provided business networking groups throughout the region for the purpose of growing small businesses). His wife, Karen, is the President & CEO of Make-A-Wish (Northern & Central CA, NE Nevada).
The Alvord’s have seven wonderful adult children. Some were family relatives they raised and adopted, and some were by birth. Regardless of how they entered the family, they are a close-knit family. Scott and Karen are extremely proud of their children, who are all contributing to society. Five of the children are now wonderful parents themselves. At this point, Scott and Karen have thirteen grandchildren.
Scott holds a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Sacramento State University. He was chosen by his professors to be in the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. He also earned a bachelor’s in computer science (BSCS) from Pacific Union College. Scott is also a proud alumnus of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Roseville program.
Scott is an author, a speaker, and business coach. He taught as an adjunct business professor at Jessup University (2017-2021) and for 15 years has led a weekly business mastermind networking group. He writes the Business Corner column of the regional Gold Country Media newspapers.
Scott is a leader who really does walk the talk. Scott is known in the community for being transparent, available, and responsive. He leads by example at the neighborhood level, business level, and civic level to make the region a better place to live. He is passionate about making a positive difference in the world.
In return, the community has recognized his efforts by voting him titles such as Favorite Local Businessperson, Favorite Civic Leader, Favorite Local Hero (Style Magazine Readers’ Choice Awards), Best-of-the-Best Local Hero (2020 & 2021) for organizing and operating the Roseville Volunteer Force, Best-of-the-Best Elected Official (Roseville Press Tribune), Most Colorful Character (Roseville Press Tribune), and he was a finalist in the Gallina’s Business Person of the Year Award (2015 & 2016).
