
Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department (PRL) has a long tradition of providing programs and facilities that promote active and healthy lifestyles. This year, PRL is introducing Be Well Roseville (BWR), a new initiative designed with the mission to create and promote a healthier city. BWR is focused on three major areas of wellness; physical exercise, good nutrition and mind/body renewal.
In an effort to help bring awareness and excitement to this program, we have scheduled Fitness in the Park; a weekly dose of Saturday sunshine! Fitness in the Park provides the dual benefit of highlighting Roseville area parks and getting people out to exercise, while simultaneously spotlighting COR Fitness instructors and our class offerings. Fitness in the Park will take place the second Saturday of each month and there will be other events throughout the month as well.
Be Well Events and Fitness in the Park:
Saturday, September 9 Bootcamp Circuit, 9:00am: Meet at the outdoor fitness court at Maidu Park at 9:00am for a full body circuit workout. Ages 14 and up are welcome! Bring water and a workout towel.
Friday, September 22 Yin Yoga Meditation Practice, 8:00pm: Relax and unwind with this Yin Yoga Meditation class at Mahany Fitness Center at 8:00pm. Wear comfortable layers. Mats are provided but feel free to bring your own bolsters or blanket.
Saturday, October 14 Grocery Store Tour, 10:00am: Meet at the entrance to Nugget Grocery Store on Fairway Drive at 10:00am. A certified Nutrition Coach will help you with shopping tips and meal planning advice. Great grocery shopping strategies will help you with your nutrition success!
Monday, October 30 Halloween Belly Dance Party, 5:00pm: Join us for this Halloween Belly Dance party at the Mahany fitness Center at 5:00pm! Wear your costume or your fun, comfy dance clothes. All levels welcome.
Friday, November 3 Plant Based Holiday Meals, 12:30pm: Our vegan Health Coach will provide ideas, tips, and options for plant based Holiday Meal planning. We will meet at 12:30pm in the group fitness room at the Mahany Fitness Center.
Monday, November 6 Yoga on the Ball, 11:00am: Join us for a gentle full body workout—Yoga on the ball at the Maidu Community Center at 11:00am. This class is perfect for those with arthritis or any joint injuries. All exercises will be done on a ball (provided) with standing options for those who want to.
Monday, December 4- Sunday, December 31, 12 days of Fitness at the Mahany Fitness Center: Take 12 classes in the month of December to earn a prize! This is open to all MFC members and punch card holders. Month to month membership is available.
Friday, December 5- Is Stress Making you fat?, 4:00pm: Do you have a hard time losing weight? Come find out how stress hormones may be effecting your weight and overall health. Our Health certified Coach will share tips and strategies about how to hack your stress hormones! Join us at 4:00pm in the Mahany Fitness Center.
Sunday, December 10 Mat WorX Stretch, 10:00am: Recover and unwind at our Exclusive Mat WorX stretch class. We begin at 10:00am at the Mahany Fitness Center. Wear comfortable fitness clothes. Mats will be provided.
Friday, January 5 New Year Zumba Dance Party, 6:30pm: Ring in the New Year at our Zumba Dance Party! Dancing begins at 6:30pm. Dress in your fun & comfy dance attire. All levels welcome!
