The City of Roseville was the first city in Placer County to be honored with the prestigious Bicycle Friendly Community Award
in 2008. The accolade was renewed in 2017 and 2021. Municipalities actively supporting bicycling for fun, fitness
and transportation receive the recognition from the League of American Bicyclists.
Roseville boasts over 100 miles of on-street bike lanes and 44 miles and growing of off-street bike paths (as of May 2024).
To support bicycling, Roseville continues to develop the community's network of bikeways and trails, hosts BikeFest annually, promotes bike and helmet safety, locates bicycle lockers around the city, engages schools through the Safe Routes to School program, among other educational efforts.
The
Bicycle Friendly Community designation is awarded based on a community’s record in promoting
bicycling across categories such as education, engineering, encouragement, and evaluation.

Businesses and universities can also apply for the League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly Business and Bicycle Friendly University programs.
