With our region experiencing more severe weather patterns during the last decade, the City is taking additional steps to help protect Roseville during future storms and meet a higher level of federal maintenance standards.
For public safety and to ensure proper clearance, the City of Roseville will be removing vegetation up to 5 feet from the floodwall face, or up to the property owner’s fence, and within the levee maintenance easements (see diagrams below).
In addition to City property, these easements allow the City the necessary access for inspection and maintenance.
Vines, shrubs and other vegetation within levee and floodwall easements will be trimmed and/or removed during September and October 2022.
The week before vegetation removal, you will receive a door hanger notice with the date and time window for the scheduled work.
Crews will access the easement from the City’s side of the floodwall or levee. No resident gate access is needed.
Vegetation removal crews will have City identification.
Following vegetation removal, the flood reduction facilities will be re-inspected by the City of Roseville. You’ll receive another door hanger notice the week prior to the inspection with a date and time window.
If any deficiency is found, the City crew will repair it during their visit. If the work can’t occur during the inspection, you’ll receive a future door hanger notice with the date and time when crews will return.
Please note that the City may contact you about the need for removal of select trees.
Inspectors will be recognizable with City of Roseville apparel and identification.
During inspection and maintenance work, please keep all pets inside your home for the crew’s safety.
After vegetation is removed, please do not plant or locate anything within the 4-5 foot easement.
Private property owners receive a yearly notice about flood risk reduction property easements. As a reminder, property owners must obtain a permit from the City of Roseville to do any work, including landscaping, that affects levees or floodwalls.
Unauthorized work could impede flood protection efforts and jeopardize public safety. The City of Roseville can work with you on improvements within your property’s flood risk reduction easements.
