Looking to volunteer at a vibrant, community-centric museum? We’re the place!  We have a number of different volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule, interests, and talents. 


Docents (Tour Guides) - ongoing acceptance

Docents guide tours through the museum and along the trail. The Maidu Museum & Historic Site provides school tours to classes throughout the region. Most of these tours are led by volunteers. Must be available during the week.

Looking for someone:

  • Interested in working with adults and children
  • With an interest in Cultural History, Anthropology/Archaeology, and/or local Ecology
  • Lead fun, engaging programs and activities

Restoration Crew - as needed 

The majority of the grounds maintenance and restoration on our 34-acre historic site is done by our volunteer Restoration Crew. This is a great opportunity to spend time in nature while getting your hands dirty.

Looking for someone:

  • Interested in working outside
  • With an interest in local Ecology
  • Available Thursday mornings

College Interns - case-by-case basis

We are not accepting internship applications at this time. Sign-up for the MMHS newsletter to stay up-to-date on the program.

Education and Program Volunteer

Want to volunteer at the Maidu Museum, but have a busy schedule? We need volunteers for our specialty camps, classes, special events and other programs. Sign up for as many or little events and programs as you are available. Must be 15 years or older and attend the Education and Program Volunteer Training.

Docent 

We are looking for new Docents/Tour Guides! Our volunteer Tour Guides leads school tours through the museum and along the trail at the Maidu Museum. Must be 18 years or older and able to volunteer between Mondays and Fridays from 9am to 2pm. To sign up, fill out a volunteer form.
