January 31-February 4th is Theft Awareness Week.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) provides useful information about identity theft on thier website and ways to help you keep your money and personal information safe, as well as tools to help you recover from Identity Theft if you do become a victim. This week, the FTC and its partners are hosting free webinars, podcasts, and other events focused on trending issues in identity theft.
Identity Theft is when someone uses your personal or financial information without your permission. Knowing what to do to reduce your risk helps to deter identity theft, and knowing what to monitor for signs of identity theft can help minimize damage.
If you think someone is using your personal information fraudulently, visit IdentityTheft.gov to report it to the FTC.
