Valentine’s Day or not, you can show that you care with a new high-efficiency clothes washer or dishwasher for that special someone (or yourself)? It will show you care about the one you love—and about using water and energy efficiently.
The average family washes nearly 300 loads of laundry each year. By purchasing a clothes washer with an ENERGY STAR label, families can conserve water and energy. ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary labeling program designed to identify and promote energy-efficient products.
- Clothes washer: A standard clothes washer uses 23 gallons of water per load. An ENERGY STAR-certified clothes washer uses only 13 gallons, saving close to 3,000 gallons of water a year. And it also uses 25 percent less energy.
- Dishwashers: An ENERGY STAR-labeled dishwasher is 30 percent more water-efficient and 12 percent more energy-efficient than a standard model. It will save thousands of gallons of water.
