Roadway improvements, park upgrades highlight capital improvements in FY22-23 City budget

Road resurfacing, a Regional Sports Complex, and utility infrastructure improvements are among scores of infrastructure and capital projects included in the FY22-23 budget approved by the Roseville City Council at its June 15 meeting.

The combined capital improvement program budget is $105 million. The budget for individual projects can span multiple yearly city budgets. Work in FY22-23 on some projects may include planning, design, and other project preparation. Construction may begin on some projects in subsequent fiscal years.

Here are some of the more notable improvement projects in the FY22-23 budget.

Roadways:

  • Rehabilitation and resurfacing portions of Pleasant Grove Blvd., Douglas Blvd., Cirby Way, Rocky Ridge Dr., and Old Auburn Rd, among other streets
  • Continuation of multi-year Sun City roadway resurfacing project
  • Roadway resurfacing in the Hillcrest neighborhood
  • Pleasant Grove Blvd. widening project includes adding third lane in each direction between Foothills Blvd. and Woodcreek Oaks Blvd., construction estimated to begin in 2023 or 2024
  • Roundabout at Washington Blvd. and All American City, construction beginning this summer
  • Roseville Parkway Extension project, construction estimated to begin in 2023
  • Baseline Road signalization project in coordination with Placer County

Parks:

  • Regional Sports Complex with an initial 6-8 fields, lights, parking and playground
  • Weber Park renovations
  • Johnson Pool upgrades including replacement of the pool shell, deck and mechanical systems
  • Development of multiple parks and replacement of play structures

Utilities:

  • Electric distribution system improvements
  • New electric system infrastructure including underground cables
  • Investments in and improvements to the Roseville Energy Park
  • Utility Operations Center including a Materials Recovery Facility and heavy duty vehicle charging
  • West Side Tank and Pump Station Project includes two six-million gallon water tanks
  • Water infrastructure upgrades to support reliable water delivery to Roseville customers

Other:

  • Cybersecurity upgrades
  • Flood retention basin along Pleasant Grove Creek watershed in the Al Johnson Wildlife Area
  • Electric bus charging facilities
  • Trail resurfacing
